Is Krav Maga like kickboxing?

All the kicks and punches used in Krav Maga are almost identical to Kickboxing type strikes. The classes are high paced and encorporate alot of padwork, but unlike regular kickboxing classes we also incorperate some self defence skills into the training, which makes Krav Maga the best alround system available today.

Does Krav Maga incorperate weapons defenses?

Yes. Krav Maga is world renowned for its weapons defences, including threats from edged weapons, blunt weapons, firearms. However at first students will be focusing on the fundamental techniques and principles of unarmed attack and gradually progress onto higher level techniques as your skill level increases.

Are there any rules when practicing Krav Maga?

Yes and No. Krav Maga instructors emphasize two paradoxical but necessary training rules (1) there are no rules in a fight, but (2) one must not injure oneself or one's partner when training. A lot of the training techniques are practiced on punch and kick pads to simulate defending yourself against an attacker.

Do Classes incorporate sparing?

Yes and no. Krav Maga, because of it's nature, must be practiced under controlled conditions. Because striking at various body's parts is Krav Maga's underlying counter attack principle, We practice techniques in a 1 on 1 partner based environment as well as training as a group. As practitioners skills increase we introduce controlled sparring with varying degrees of power, while using protective equipment, Advanced students will graduate onto more detailed types of sparing.

I'm a girl, will this be suitable for me?

Yes! Krav Maga is equally suited to men and women. Don't worry you won't end up all macho by doing the classes. In fact you will find that as well as teaching you how to defend yourself against bigger and stronger attackers, you will also get in good shape by doing this.
